• 26.5 ounces of spaghetti sauce

• 1 box of quick melt cheese
• 1/2 cup of water
• 1 bottle of banana ketchup

First, cook the spaghetti noodles per the directions. Cut the slightly frozen hot dogs into wedges, by splitting the hot dog in half and doing slanted cuts. Heat up some oil in a pan, and sauté the onions and garlic. Add in the ground meat, and cook it until it is browned. Sprinkle pepper and salt on it to taste. Pour in the water, ketchup, sugar and spaghetti sauce. Mix all of the contents, and let it simmer until it gets thick and red, which should be about 10 minutes. Then, add the hot dogs to the sauce, mix the hot dogs in well and let them rest.

Since you have not cooked the spaghetti in with the sauce, you might want to rinse the noodles off to rid them of the extra starch. The Top 4 Ways To Cook a Good Steak

Steak is one of the simplest, most delicious and most impressive meals to serve. Start with a great piece of steak, such as Lone Mountain Wagyu, and treat it right – it won’t let you down! With any method of cooking, you may defrost your steak in the refrigerator, but be sure to bring to room temperature on the counter for the last half hour. For cooking with a meat thermometer: 145°= medium, 170°= well done. Without a thermometer, pierce with a meat fork to judge by pinkness of juices. With that out of the way, let’s review your options:

Searing

When beginning to cook, make sure the whole side begins to cook at the same time. Searing steak seals it, trapping juices inside. Listen for the sizzle and the steak after cooking! (This cannot be stressed enough.) Do not cut into cooked steak for at least 7 – 10 minutes. Juice and tenderness are increased during this resting stage. If you’d prefer to bake, you can also start by searing the meat in a cast-iron skillet on your regular burner. Then simply place the pan in the oven at 350° until done. There are many recipes available for baking steaks; if yours calls for dipping in batter, this should be done before the searing. Let rest before cutting.

Frying

A cast iron skillet is unbeatable for frying steak. Many love a good marinade for the flavor added by garlic and herbs; others feel that a marinade should be used only on tougher cuts of steak. If you decide upon marinade, only lightly oil the pan. A marinade does not have to take long. Pop your thoroughly defrosted steak into a Ziploc bag with olive oil, vinegar, fresh salt and pepper and herbs of your choice for about an hour. Your pan should be on highest heat and truly hot when the steak is dropped in. As soon as it is seared on one side, turn it over. When seared on second side, immediately reduce heat to finish cooking to desired doneness. If you should decide against marinade, use a bit more oil in the pan. Rub fresh salt and pepper into your steak. Add herbs such as garlic if desired, but rub thoroughly into the meat. With your pan at highest heat, drop the steak in so the entire surface is seared. Turn to sear other side and reduce heat to complete cooking. Add sauce items, such as onions or mushrooms. Complete your sauce. Allow dish to rest.

Broiling

Prepare for marinade or non-marinade. You may use a cast iron skillet for this or any service dish certified to withstand broiling. 4” from heat is about right. When seared, turn and reduce heat until cooked. Let rest.

Grilling

Prepare by marinading for a little while or just throw it on the grill. Either way, grill the steak on both sides and immediately remove it to rest. But be aware, this method has been known to get your testosterone flowing!

No matter what method you use, it’s important that the steak looks as good as it will eventually taste. I like my steak medium rare, so this is what it looks like in the end. So what’s your favorite method? Let me know in the comments so we can all learn from your experiences!

Tips on How to Choose the Best Fruits and Veggies

Vegetables and fruits are an important part of any healthy meal and should not be substituted if you are to live a healthy lifestyle. Therefore, it is important to find the best fruits and vegetables when visiting a grocery store to buy them for home use. Most grocery stores have them displayed on shelves, and at first glance they all look fresh and healthy but with further scrutiny it is revealed that some of them are either too ripe or not ripe at all. Since, the vegetables and fruits that are used at home are diverse, it is important to know what to look out for when making a selection so that you always end up with the best.

Some of the general tips that need to be considered when choosing fruits as well as vegetables on a regular basis include:

First, is the smell test which is able to tell you about the quality of the fruit or vegetable that you want to buy? Fruit that is ripe has a fragrant aroma that resembles its taste when it is eaten, while fruit that is unripe has no distinctive smell. To be able to smell the fruits as well as vegetables well, hold them at the place where they were connected to their stem, and while placing them near your nose and take in a deep breath. The ones with the strongest smell are the most ripe, and for fruits can be eaten immediately. However, for some vegetables such as eggplants, the smelling test is not applicable.

Second, those that have the brightest colour are likely to be ripe and healthy as well apart from not having blemishes or any bruises. The skin of the fruit or vegetables should be filled with its natural colour, without having any white sheen or even dull colour that may indicate that it lacks some nutrients or is unripe.

Third, when pressing ripe and healthy vegetables or fruits they should be firm but not necessarily hard. The firmness may usually vary from one type of produce to another and so comparing one or two from one batch will be able to help decide on the best ones. Fruits should be plump as most of them are expected to be juicy as well as moist, while vegetables should have ends that are not easily bent if they are to be chosen.

Fourth, the weight of the fruit or vegetable is also important as the more heavy ones are likely to be much healthier. This may mostly apply to fruits more than vegetables and can be ascertained through the picking of fruits of the same type and gauging their weight, the heaviest is likely to be of good quality.

Lastly, fruits as well as vegetables that are in season are the best as they are generally fresh and can be easily found in most markets because they are available in large amounts. In addition, they are likely to be much cheaper as well.

Gluten-Free Egg Rolls

Having a gluten intolerance can make it difficult to add variety to your diet. Your favorite asian dishes are impossible to make without gluten right? Wrong. You can enjoy all of your favorite asian dishes without all the gluten! My favorites are egg rolls. Here is a great recipe I have been using for years, for gluten free egg rolls made with wonton wrappers or rice paper and all gluten free ingredients!

Ingredients for Gluten-Free Egg Rolls

7 tablespoons tamari
3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
3 tablespoons honey
1 pound ground beef
2 tablespoons sesame oil
4 garlic cloves
12 ounce bag of fresh cabbage
2 large carrots, grated
cornstarch
Moist, gluten-free Wonton Wrappers or rice paper, doubled and cut into squares
Tamari soy sauce to taste
Vegetable oil

How to Cook Gluten-Free Egg Rolls

Cooking the filling:
1. Brown the ground beef and put it to the side.
2. Combine the apple cider vinegar, tamari, honey, and 2 tablespoons of cornstarch together and mix.
3. Separate the sauce this created into two separate bowls.
4. Add the ground beef to one of the bowls and mix together then let it sit at room temperature during the next few steps so the sauce can absorb into the beef more.
5. Fry the garlic in the sesame oil, over medium heat, for 3 minutes.
6. Add the cabbage, carrots, and the bowl of sauce you did not add the ground beef to.
7. Turn the stove to medium-low, cover the skillet and toss occasionally. Cook like this for about 5 minutes.
8. Add the sauce with the beef in it and another tablespoon of cornstarch.
9. Toss and cook another minute or so.
10. Allow it to cool down and then pour the mixture into a strainer to separate the remaining liquid and sauce that was not absorbed. We want the mixture to be dry when we start wrapping the egg rolls.

Wrapping and frying the egg roll:
1. Take the gluten-free wonton wrappers or rice paper square and place some of the filling towards one of the corners.
2. Roll over that corner closest to the filling very tightly around the mixture.
3. Continue to roll until you reach the middle of the square.
4. Fold in both sides tightly and continue to roll until the egg roll is completely sealed.
5. Repeat with each additional gluten-free Wonton Wrappers or rice paper square.
6. Once all egg rolls are wrapped and ready, Fry for 1 minute on each side, in vegetable oil on medium heat.
7. Add Tamari soy sauce (gluten-free) to taste.

I really hope you enjoy the recipe!
